About Us
The Department of Family & Community Medicine provides excellent care, innovative teaching of primary healthcare, and discoveries of new knowledge that contribute to the improvement of processes and outcomes. U.S. News & World Report's 2019-2020 rankings placed Baylor College of Medicine as #4 in the country for primary care. Affiliated with Harris Health, we provide multidisciplinary healthcare to the medically underserved urban population in the Houston metropolitan area. As champions for the education of medical students, resident physicians, fellows, and faculty, we recognizes the unique needs of students, residents and faculty and work diligently to provide optimum learning experiences for everyone in our department. Our research, education, and clinical faculty members participate in a range of research projects and we value cross-departmental research collaborations, which have included neuroscience, internal medicine, allied sciences, and pediatrics.

Free Online CME Courses
The Collaborative for Alcohol-Free Pregnancy and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention have launched free, online continuing education courses on fetal alcohol spectrum disorders. The courses target practitioners in primary care, integrated care, school and university clinics, and other clinical settings.
New Research Initiative
The Center for Population Health Research focuses on health disparities, antibiotic stewardship, integrated behavioral and physical health, and substance abuse disorders.
